Expert recruitment – palliative care
A considerable percentage of our work is focused on palliative care and loss of services cases. Much of our work in this area is instructed following medical negligence, usually due to a misdiagnosis or negligence during surgery.
We deal with:
- Cancer
- Long-term neurological conditions – MS, MND, Parkinson’s
- Terminal Illness
- Respiratory conditions
- Stroke
Loss of services refers to a claim that is brought about following a loss of life, sometimes through medical negligence. Here we conduct an evaluation of the services the deceased provided for in the past, and the services they would have been provided for in the future.
Typical Background
Our Experts tend to have strong intermediate care or community care background, supporting individuals in their own homes with often long-term symptoms. You should have a good understanding of how a claimant’s condition is likely to change with time and how this will affect their daily living, mobility, and their family. You should also have a good level of input into the personal care/support package arrangements for your patients/clients; we understand you may be restricted and do not directly implement that care; however, it is very important you have input into the recommendations.
Key skills:
- Setting rehabilitation goals
- Discharge planning
- Advising on care packages
- Provision of equipment
- Planning of housing adaptation
